Richard Parisio will lead a nature and poetry walk at the Thorn preserve featuring nature poetry published by Will Nixon at the Thorn Preserve.
Parisio lives and writes in the Hudson Valley. In his work as a naturalist and educator, and in his poetry, Parisio explores theĀ intersections between human and non-human lives. His chapbook, The Owl Invites Your Silence, won the 2014 Slapering Hol Press Poetry Chapbook Award.
Will Nixon's poetry books are Love in the City of Grudges (FootHills Publishing) and My Late Mother as a Ruffed Grouse (FootHills Publishing) as well as the chapbooks When I Had It Made (Pudding House) and The Fish Are Laughing (Pavement Saw). With Michael Perkins co-authored local best-seller Walking Woodstock: Journeys into the Wild Heart of America's Most Famous Small Town (Bushwhack Books). His work has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and is listed in the Best American Essays 2004.
