Woodstock’s Climate Smart Communities Task Force is developing plans and strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and build local climate resilience. We are focused on renewing our Bronze status during the first half of 2026 and look forward to working with the community on our efforts.
From February 2024 to the present, a group of Woodstock and Ulster County volunteers has been working with two New York State Department of Health environmental analysts (one of whom is also a hydrogeologist) to develop and launch implementation of a Drinking Water Source Protection Program (DWSP2) plan unique to the Woodstock community. The DWSP2 is a locally led, state-supported program that empowers municipalities to take action to protect and enhance their public water sources and the surrounding environment. Woodstock’s DWSP2 plan outlines actional steps that Woodstockers can take to protect the community’s drinking water sources now and into the future.
For a link to further info, please use the official NYS DWSP2 site, or visit the Town of Woodstock website here, which includes a DWSP2 presentation made to the Town Board on 3/11/25 by our two NYS DOH environmental analyst leaders.
Ecoaction cards were created by Christie Scheele and Kathleen Sweeney.

Infinity Energy: We are committed to providing clean energy and making solar affordable and available to all.
The Mid-Hudson Sierra Club advocates for the environment on a grass-roots level. We support local environmental issues including protection from over-development. Our State activities are managed by our chapter staff in Albany; and of course, national issues are addressed by the Sierra Club.
What if going solar was as easy as plugging in a lamp? Four million German households proved it’s possible. Small-scale, modular, plug-in solar units are transforming energy access across Europe. Let's bring affordable, clean power to renters, apartment dwellers, and backyards in America.
Plug-in Solar will democratize clean energy and accelerate our renewable transition.
Bright Saver, a national non-profit organization, is raising awareness about Plug-in Solar. Come ask questions and learn how you can plug-in. Bennet Ratcliff, co-founder of the Princeton Pollinators, is working with Bright Saver to bring this clean, safe, affordable power to homes and apartments across New York.
Mary Frank of Solar Cookers International
Mary Frank, a New York based activist and artist, has been a longtime supporter of Solar Cookers International (SCI) and one of the most inspiring and uncompromising advocates for solar cooking.
Mary Frank's Truth buttons will be available at the Solar Cookers International table.
Stop Zena Development is a partnership between the Woodstock Land Conservancy and concerned community volunteers. We believe the proposed development by Zena Development LLC would negatively impact habitat in the eastern Catskills region and put the safety of the Woodstock and Ulster community at risk. Please join us in our mission to preserve the unique character of Woodstock for future generations.

We're a community of Americans over sixty determined to change the world for the better. Third Act Upstate New York harnesses an unparalleled generational power to safeguard our climate and democracy.
Woodstockers United for Change (W.U.C.) is a grassroots civic organization that was founded in the Spring of 2024, in response to the environmental and governmental problems that our Town was facing. We have been at the forefront of efforts to ensure that our Town has safe drinking water:
by raising public awareness about the so-called “Shady Dump,” whose contaminants have been allowed to sit over our aquifer for eight years now, and continuing to assert solutions to the Town for its full remediation, and
by informing the community of the appearance and the subsequent dramatic increase of the uniquely toxic “forever chemicals” (PFAS) in our drinking water, continuing to monitor the contamination levels, and stressing the urgency of a proactive response by the Town.
We are proud to work with and support the Woodstock Environmental Commission in their efforts to address these and other matters. As always, we call for cooperation, transparency and urgency in protecting the health and safety of all Woodstockers.
